NATURAL LIGHTING WITH SEAMLESS SPACES

This north Bengaluru home of retired Air Vice Marshal Mathew George and Susan has sky-lights that are positioned in a way that diffuses light all over the interiors of the house and does not focus only on the living areas. Designed by architects Lakshmi Narasimhan and Ravindra S K on a plot oddly sized at 100×45 feet, it has a built-up area of 4,000 sqft and has been constructed keeping in mind the needs of its residents.

For their frequent social get-togethers, the house has expansive living spaces. The dramatic roof gives this home dynamism of form. This roof starts to curve from the highest point of the foyer all the way down into the garden. The opening in the curve frames the doorway to the garden.

She is also one of the Directors and the Design Head of MINDMAPS Architecture and Interiors, a construction company that has proven to be one of the leading firms in Bangalore working with a niche and elite clientele. Additionally, she is the Co-founder of two more ventures – Sahaa – The Crafters which offers eco-friendly and natural designs for apparel, jewelry, and furniture, and Cafe Socialize, a Bohemian-styled, upmarket cafe, in a quiet neighborhood of West Bangalore.

OLD-WORLD CHARM IN CONTEMPORARY SETTING

It is a fine blend of straight lines with traditional motifs and themes, the significant presence of antiques and old-world charm softening the sharp straight lines of the contemporary style and rustic accents.
